The area of rolling hills and bluffs located on the north and east sides of the Mississippi River from Grafton to Hartford and South Roxana is known locally as the River Bend, referring to the wandering course of the Mississippi River through the area.

The various River Bend communities offer a tremendous variety of housing opportunities ranging from starter homes in mature, stable communities to new homes in all price ranges, rural parcels, mini-farms, and even restored mansions overlooking the Mississippi River.

The River Bend communities are within minutes of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey. Both are considered the best in their class in Illinois. In addition, St. Louis-based colleges and universities are just minutes away. The area has numerous fine public and private high schools, convenient primary and middle schools and numerous pre-school programs.

Shopping is excellent with all of the larger retailers and major discount stores having stores in the area plus scores of fine locally-owned shops offering unique shopping experiences.
